Black Belt Kata
Kata isn’t everything
While Kata isn’t everything in Karate, it is still very important and each student should never stop studying Kata. Some Black Belts may know many “Black Belt” Kata and some may only know a few. That does not mean that the Black Belt who knows many is greater than or more skilled than the one that knows few. There are also many different layers to “knowing” a Kata and Black Belts should always strive for as deep of an understanding as possible. While that is all true, we will still provide practice tools in order to assist our students in learning the steps to a Kata, as we understand that it is very dificult for some students.
*Please note
Provided is the list of kata that are regularly taught to our Black Belts in alphabetical order. The videos linked (still in progress) are the way each of the kata are taught at Tahoma Karate and may not be accurate to every system of Karate as Kyle Gough Sensei and his teachers have all studied various systems of karate. The linked videos should be referred to for steps only and not for any extra techniques or body mechanics that may be taught with the kata.
